Werder Bremen vs Bayern Munich Beat Werder Bremen 1-0
Bayern Munich are officially the Bundesliga’s 2019/20 champions after a 1-0 win against Werder Bremen on Tuesday night secured the Bavarians’ eighth straight title.
They have won the title with two matchdays to spare, while they have the highest scorer in the division in Robert Lewandowski (31) and the leading assist provider in the form of Thomas Muller (20).
In addition, they have had the likes of Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies truly establish themselves this season, especially in the case of the latter, and that is great news for Hansi Flick ahead of the Champions League in August.
It was perhaps fitting that Lewandowski scored Bayern’s only goal away at Werder, as he continues what has arguably been his best season to date.
That was a slight blotch on Bayern’s performance due to Davies picking up two yellows and being sent off, but they won’t mind too much – the title is secure.
What is incredible is that since Flick took charge in early November, Bayern have been like a locomotive and have picked up 58 points from a possible 66 under the former Germany assistant coach.
Now, Bayern will be looking to continue adding league titles and become the team in Europe’s top five leagues with the most, beating Juventus (35 in Serie A) and Real Madrid (33 in LaLiga Santander).
Regardless, thoughts will quickly turn towards how they can keep this momentum going ahead of the Champions League’s resumption later in the summer.
