Valencia Problems at Mestalla
Mouctar Diakhaby and Albert Celades are facing an uncomfortable situation at Valencia, with Los Che having a defensive problem that is difficult to solve.
The latest example of this issue came as they dropped two points int he derby against Levante thanks to clumsiness from Diakhaby.
But Gabriel Paulista’s injury leaves Celades looking for options, meaning he had to choose between Diakhaby and Eliaquim Mangala.
Paulista’s situation isn’t likely to be resolved in time for the trip to Real Madrid, giving Celades a reason to sweat ahead of their game at Valdebebas.
Mouctar Diakhaby is a strange player, because he’s capable of really good performances as well, and he seems unable to offer anything that’s not extremely positive or negative – there is no middle ground.
When it comes to big games, though, he tends to be switched on, and Valencia will be hoping for that to be the case against Real Madrid.
Juventus, Arsenal, Madrid and Ajax have all seen Diakhaby at his very best, but then he conceded two penalties in a matter of minutes against Atalanta in the Champions League last-16 tie.
