Van de Beek challenges Carvajal.
Former Ajax and Barcelona player Ronald de Boer has revealed that Real Madrid are interested in signing Donny Van de Beek and that the current Ajax midfielder would also like to sign for Los Blancos.
The Dutch midfielder has many suitors with both Real Madrid and Manchester United reported to be keen on acquiring his services.
“When you hear these clubs pass by, I know your heart will beat faster,” De Boer told Fox Sports NL.
As MARCA has previously reported, the coronavirus outbreak has caused Real Madrid to reconsider their summer transfer strategy.
The current strategy is not to take on new players, but rather slim down the squad. This could lead to other clubs like Manchester United swooping in for the player.
“On the one hand, I understand that Real Madrid are hesitating a bit. Another club could think ‘hey, an interesting player, maybe we can get him for a little less’.
“For example Manchester United.”
There is also the possibility that Manchester United’s interest in Van de Beek might hasten Paul Pogba’s departure from the club, as coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is supposedly keen on taking a new direction in the English club’s transfer strategy.
“I think he is tired of the [Paul] Pogbas running around. He wants players like Donny van de Beek.”
