Paper Talk: Lampard makes big call on Chelsea star’s future after showdown talks; worries emerge for clutch West Ham man

Frank Lampard makes a key decision over a Chelsea star’s future after crunch talks, while West Ham have concerns about a vital attacker – all in the latest Paper Talk.

RUDIGER READY TO PLAY

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will bring defender Antonio Rudiger back into his plans after showdown talks, according to a report.

Rudiger is yet to feature this season, with Thiago Silva’s arrival pushing him down the pecking order.

Indeed, he did not make the squad for six of Chelsea‘s first seven matches this season. As well as Silva, Lampard has so far preferred Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen ahead of him.

However, the Daily Mail claims that Rudiger’s situation has changed – at least until the January transfer window.

Lampard has held ‘heart-to-heart’ talks with the German centre-back, amid concerns about his playing time.

The talks have reportedly proved ‘constructive’, with Lampard now promising to feature the player in his plans.

However, the newspaper adds that there was never a fracas between the pair, with simple selection decisions the cause of his snub.

Rudiger’s recent omissions come after he was close to a move away from Chelsea in the recent transfer window.

Tottenham reportedly showed interest and the 27-year-old revealed that he turned down a “couple” of offers.
