Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has warned Tottenham Hotspur that his teammates are looking “sharp” in training ahead of their match on Friday.
Man Utd get their season back underway with a trip to face Spurs, in what will be their first game in three months.
After such a long time away, Pereira admits the teams will not be at their full strength in terms of match fitness. However, the midfielder says United have been switched on in training.
“We’ve been waiting a long time without answers,” he told Sky Sports. “As soon as we knew that the season was going to start again, we were very hyped and wanted to play.
“And now we just have a few days to go to play the game, and it’s like everybody’s very sharp in training, like everybody pays a lot of attention. So, we’re very eager that the season starts again.”
Pereira echoes Dalot rallying cry
Pereira has started 18 games in the Premier League this season. However, with Paul Pogba nearing his return, there will be more competition for places in his position.
Pereira insists that United will be relying on their entire squad, though, as they push for their targets. In doing so, he mirrored comments from teammate Diogo Dalot, who has vowed to give manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer some “difficult” decisions to make.
And Pereira believes that a good start in the first game back will be essential in kick-starting how strongly they end the season.
“It’s very important, the game against Tottenham. It will be a very difficult one, because it’s the first game,” he added.
“It feels like when you come back from pre-season, like the match rhythm is not 100 per cent yet.
“But we know it’s going to be hard for them as well. We’re going to make it a very tough job and we want to win, because we have a Champions League spot to go for, and we have the FA Cup and Europa League.
“So, we’re going full out in these two months really, and we just have to push as a squad, like Diogo [Dalot] said, everybody, and make it the best two months we can get.”
