The third-tier outfit are 45 minutes away from a famous upset as Adrian Jimenez’s fifth-minute strike separates the two sides. Cornella have been good value for their lead, while the visitors have been lacklustre and have barely threatened outside of a Saul Niguez attempt that struck the bar.

39′ WIDE! Saul turns away from Jimenez and guides a left-footed strike towards the target from the edge of the box, only to see his effort drift just wide of the left post.

38′ Vitolo runs after a long ball forward down the left flank and stretches to send a cross into the box. However, it’s easy pickings for Carlos Garcia to control before clearing the danger.

35′ Ricard Sanchez angles a free-kick into the Cornella box from the left flank, but Saul is unable to divert it towards goal or back across the face of goal. 

33′ OFFSIDE! Juan denies Correa with a brilliant save to turn his strike wide of the post. However, the Argentine is offside anyway after latching on to a tremendous backheel from Joao Felix in the box.

31′ SO CLOSE!!! Cornella come inches away from a second goal. Medina again cuts open the visitors and offloads to Estelles in space on the edge of the box. He fires his effort low and hard towards the bottom-left corner, but San Roman gets his fingertips on it to turn it past the post.

29′ Atletico need to get a grip on proceedings. At the moment they’re reacting to the home side rather than dictating the course of the contest.

27′ Medina angles the resulting corner right under crossbar, forcing San Roman to punch the ball away from danger. The Atletico keeper was alert to the threat there.

26′ Atletico fail to clear their lines from another delivery from Medina. Gila lines up a strike on the half-volley, but Torreira gets in the way of the effort to divert it wide of the target.

21′ OFF THE BAR AND OVER! Correa weaves his way through the Cornella defence in the left inside channel, but he sees his effort blocked. Saul latches on to the loose ball, only to rattle the bar with his right-footed strike. Correa is on the spot to gather the rebound, but Moreno throws himself in front of his shot to divert his attempt over the bar.

19′ Atletico have not been allowed to settle into the contest. The home side have been extremely impressive thus far.

17′ Torreira lifts his delivery deep to the back post and connects with Joao Felix. He steers a low ball across the face of goal, but it evades red and white shirts and is cleared by Carlos Garcia.

16′ Atletico win a free-kick on the left flank that Torreira will lift into the Cornella box after Kondogbia is fouled by Moreno.

14′ Joao Felix looks for the early pass into the left inside channel for Correa. However, Moreno has the area covered and ushers the ball back to Juan.

9′ OVER! Atletico attack the resulting corner as Felipe wins the initial header before Kondogbia nods his attempt over the bar.

8′ WIDE! Atletico try to hit back straight away. Joao Felix surges into the box and offloads towards Correa. It deflects off Jimenez and trickles inches wide of the left post.

3′ Estelles drills a low cross into the box that Fernandez almost takes in stride, but he gets bustled off the ball by Lodi before he can fire at goal.

2′ Borja Garcia fails to clear his lines and the loose ball falls to Saul, but he fails to pick out Correa with his offload.

Simeone has made eight changes to his line-up for the contest from the team that beat Alaves. Only Gimenez, Felipe and Correa retain their places. San Roman takes over from Oblak between the posts. Ricard Sanchez and Renan Lodi start in the full-back positions, while Saul, Vitolo, Kondogbia and Torreira get the nod in midfield. Joao Felix partners Correa in the final third.

Cornella have made three changes to their side that was between by Barcelona B last time out. Carlos Garcia, Moreno and Sanchez come into the side to replace Borrego, Dorca and Marcet.

Atletico defeated Cardassar in the opening round of the competition by a 3-0 margin on the road. Diego Simeone’s men have won their last five matches on the bounce, including that contest and their triumph over Deportivo Alaves at the weekend. Luis Suarez scored a late winner for Los Rojiblancos to maintain their lead at the top of LaLiga. Simeone will not want his side’s momentum to halt even in the cup.

Cornella overcame Marino on the round in the last round of the competition courtesy of a strike from Alex Pla. Guillermo Fernández’s men are sitting seventh in the Segunda B Division after 11 matches. They have not played since December 20 when they were beaten by Barcelona B on home soil. Cornella will have to be flawless tonight to have any hope of progressing.
