Chelsea star agrees two-year deal in Italy; Arsenal make keeper approach

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud looks all set to leave London for Turin, while the Blues have turned down a swap deal for N’Golo Kante and Arsenal have seen a move for a Brentford star rebuffed, all in the papers.

GIROUD SET FOR EXIT

Olivier Giroud finally looks set to depart Chelsea.

The 33-year-old France forward arrived from Arsenal in January 2018, but has been threatening to leave over the last 12 months so he can secure more game time.

Now Sky Sports Italia report that Giroud has agreed a provisional contract with Juventus.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus and Giroud have agreed in principle a two-year contract that would see him earn €4.5m net a season in Turin.

The Italians champions have agreed to release Gonzalo Higuain, who looks set to join MLS sider Inter Miami.

They are finding it difficult to agree a deal withe Barcelona star Luis Suarez and so have turned to Giroud.

Giroud would have left in January had Frank Lampard been able to find a replacement, with Tottenham interested in taking the former Arsenal striker across the capital.

That never materialised and he was subsequently given more game time, scoring a decisive goal against Spurs in the race for the top four.

“I was supposed to leave in the January transfer window because I wasn’t playing much and I needed more game time to make the France squad for Euro 2020,” Giroud told the club’s official website.

“I very nearly left the club but I really think that God wanted me to stay at Chelsea.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea have rejected an offer from Inter Milan for N’Golo Kante. The offer from Inter included Croatia international Marcelo Brozovic, 27, in exchange, according to the Guardian.
