Chelsea have entered formal discussions with Brentford about their interest in winger Said Benrahma, according to a reliable journalist.
The Blues, who have been one of the quietest Premier League sides in recent transfer windows, have become the exciting talking point in recent weeks.
With Hakim Ziyech joining from Ajax in the coming months, reports earlier this month said Timo Werner could join him.
The pair would add further exciting dimensions to an attack already boasting Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic.
However, RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi claims that Benrahma is also on Chelsea’s radar, with Leicester and Arsenal also keen.
The journalist tweeted: “Chelsea have entered into talks with Said Benrahma‘s representatives.
“Chelsea have formally expressed an interest in the player to Brentford. Leicester and Arsenal interested.”
Benrahma moved to Brentford from Nice and has been one of the Bees’ driving forces in the push for promotion this season.
His 10 goals and eight assists in the Championship have helped Brentford to fourth spot with nine games left to maintain a play-off spot.
Overall, the three-time Algeria international has directly contributed 46 goals in 79 appearances.
Chelsea, meanwhile sit fourth in the Premier League table with nine games remaining.
However, the Blues’ top-four spot is far from safe, with Manchester United, Wolves and Sheffield United all pushing for a spot.
AN EXCITING TRANSFER WINDOW FOR CHELSEA?
Reports suggest Chelsea, a sleeping giant in the transfer market of late, could be busy this time round.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich reportedly wants two marquee signings in at Stamford Bridge before next season.
As well as Werner, Leicester’s Ben Chilwell and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz have been linked.
Both players, however, will cost at least £70million, meaning the Blues could sanction a clear-out to fund the moves.
