RFEF and FIFA take issue over Nolito transferRC Celta

Celta Vigo’s signing of Nolito has caused quite a stir.

The Galician club announced the immediate arrival of the forward from Sevilla as an emergency transfer after goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez got injured.

Despite the transfer being given the green light by LaLiga, it hasn’t gone down as well with other governing bodies.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) were surprised by the move, and FIFA weren’t best pleased considering they wrote to the RFEF in February asking them to prevent these emergency signings from happening outside the transfer window.

That was after Martin Braithwaite moved from Leganes to Barcelona in February.

Nolito’s transfer is different to that of Braithwaite – Barcelona paid the forward’s release clause, while Celta and Sevilla agreed a deal for the Spaniard, whose contract was set to expire in the summer, to move to Balaidos.

Even Celta’s players were surprised by the announcement of Nolito’s arrival.
