Barcelona He’s a big fan of the Argentine
Former Barcelona great Hristo Stoichkov has proclaimed his love for Inter forward Lautaro Martinez, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Camp Nou.
The Bulgarian believes that the 22-year-old would benefit from learning from current Barcelona No.9 Luis Suarez.
“I love Lautaro Martinez,” Stoichkov told the Argentinian radio station FM Late.
“As a winger, I liked those strikers.
“He is very mobile and works hard for the team.
“He never stands still and that’s more important than scoring a goal.”
“If Lautaro Martinez joins Barcelona, he will have the best teacher in the world: Luis Suarez.
“They both have good movement.
“Obviously you can play the two together plus [Lionel] Messi.
“If he comes to Barcelona, he can become as important a striker as [Gabriel] Batistuta was.”
Antoine Griezmann has come in for some criticism during his debut campaign at Barcelona, but Stoichkov pointed to the way in which the Frenchman is selfless.
“He’s working hard for the team and that’s crucial,” Stoichkov noted.
“I have a lot of confidence in him and that’s why they paid what they paid.
“He’s having 20 touches a game.”
Stoichkov also discussed Messi, who he is still in awe of.
“I’ve known him since he made his debut and he’s still the same,” he said.
“You can’t compare him because he’s unique.
“He’s a very good teammate and that’s the most important thing.”
