Anthony Davis is a big part of the Los Angeles Lakers success this season. With his arrival last summer, the Purple & Gold became one of the biggest favorites to win it all. When the season started AD met the expectations and helped the Lakers climb to the top of the Western Conference after missing the playoffs last year.

The 27-year-old forward is a superstar already but Dwight Howard is still ahead of him, says former Laker Metta Sandiford-Artest (previously known as Metta World Peace and Ron Artest). According to him, Howard’s four Defensive Player of the Year awards is a huge achievement on its own.

At the same time former NBA champion admitted to not having seen too much of Davis in action before he joined the Lakers. Sandiford-Artest was following mainly contenders and AD’s Pelicans were not among them.

Per Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson of Heavy:

“I haven’t watched a lot of Anthony Davis over the years because like, he’s in New Orleans and you’re only watching the championship teams. So if you’re a hardcore NBA fan, you know everything about Anthony Davis. I’ve played in the NBA. So me playing in the NBA, I knew about Anthony Davis, but I didn’t know that he was THAT good. I mean you see he’s an All-Star at the All-Star Game you Anthony Davis, there go Anthony Davis. But when you actually watch him play, him being a Laker and watching in all those Lakers games with that style of play, I didn’t know he was like, that great. He’s entering greatness right now, he’s a Hall of Famer definitely but I think he has to get past Dwight because Dwight has had the better career with his 4 Defensive Player of the Year trophies which is crazy. But I think he has some work to do but he’s a great player.”

This season AD is averaging 26.7 points and 9.4 rebounds per game for Los Angeles. He has made seven straight NBA All-Star Games since 2014.
